For your second issue, I remember that you can choose to unlock the phone automatically when the call comes in, and lock the phone again when the call ends. I'll need to reinstall the app on my phone before I can guide you on that.
Alternatively, if your phone is on Android 5.0 and above, you may want to try using the Smart Lock feature. Before setting it up, remember to disable/uninstall the unlock app first. Basically there is no difference in the range - Both are 2016 series.
The only difference is just the design. Eclipse is black fiber + black, while the Horizon is transparent + black.
This will definitely not be a solution for everyone, but if you:
you can try erasing all data on the tag to avoid this issue. I had tried using NXP Tag writer to erase the tag after I did the test earlier in this post. The trusted unlock will still be intact.
But if you need to keep the data in the tag, you can give NFC for Tasker a try. Install (but do not run the app), read the tag, and if Android asks you for default app, set "NFC for Tasker" as the default. It should just read the tag and sort of "ignore" the content. It does not apply to all tag contents though (for example - Contacts).

Though I can't locate the setting to turn off NFC. Probably will need a third party plugin. Give me some time to explore.
Going back to the issue where the keyboard is interrupted - I can't seem to recreate the issue on the Samsung S4. I tried the "NFC ReTag Free" (which I do not like the notification which appears after every read), and the "NFC for Tasker" (which I found while exploring the Tasker plugins, totally silent. Tasker not required if you just wish to test it. Nothing to configure as well). Looks like different phone react differently to the NFC tag?
Edit: Turning on and off NFC requires a rooted device. If your Android is not rooted, Tasker will not be able to help much in this case.
Not isolated to Samsung only. The most important step is to enable the Smart Lock in Trust Agents. Otherwise the Smart Lock feature will be missing.

So far the only sweet spot I can find for Samsung S6, with the clear cover. Able to unlock with one hand most of the time (with exception of a few locations, especially that one spot at the undergound subway... * grumble *).
In case someone is wondering about the clear view cover - Nope, the S6 can't read the NFC ring through that cover. It is slightly thicker than the clear cover.
There is another sweet spot at the opposite end, for those wearing the NFC ring on their left hand.
Interesting tibits: Without the cover on (i.e. exposing the battery), you can use the NFC ring at the bottom and top of the battery as well. Though nobody will use the phone with the battery expose.
I can put one up once I reach home tonight, though I never succeed in finding the perfect sweet spot with the S-View Cover on.
I will also put up the S6 sweet spot while I am on it.
Heh. Just realized they had updated their hardware page. Now it sounds more logical. :)
Somehow they managed to implement bluetooth in their ring (as well as a battery source if that is the case).
Tried the trusted device on the Samsung S6. For this particular phone, it unlocks immediately after detecting the NFC ring (without swiping).
Just to report that the Alpha ring works quite well with the Samsung S6, even through the official Clear Cover. Not really 100% success rate yet, probably there should be another sweet spot somewhere.
Not much luck with the S View Cover for S6 - The back is slightly thicker than the Clear Cover. Not too sure about the Clear View Cover.

After using for three more weeks trying out different solutions, I've decided to request for a change to alpha ring instead. Even though the classic ring works well, I can't live without the front cover. Too scary to use a phone without a protective cover, especially for me with butterfingers. :)
Not really shocked, but surprised that the ring can only be read intermittenly through the Sumsung S-View Cover/Flip Cover (managed to find the Sumsung-branded Flip Cover and tested). The back cover is just slightly thicker than the phone original back cover.
I'm going to try something else, and will report back in 2 weeks.
The regular ring does work on the Galaxy S4 (using GT-I9505). There is a catch though - must not use any additional cover/case... I can easily unlock the phone while not using the case. With the case on, it is futile.
I had tried using a cover which is similar to the S-View Cover, and it works intermittenly due to slightly thicker back cover. Anybody over here tried using the original S-View Cover (or the Flip Cover)?
