@MrStein Glad to hear the project is running on time! This board has me waiting with anticipation like crazy!

RE: Private and Public zones now the same size?
@johnyma22 Thinking about this, would not it have been possible to change the problem tags, but to leave the inlay sizes different for just such a reason? Perhaps by keeping the new tags centered in the larger inlay?

RE: Why contactless cards are safe
As I understand it, unlike the contact less that is being passed out, both nfc payments and chip and pin/signature payments use tokenization. So even if your cats were skimmed, or info intercepted, the number holds no card info and only good for one transaction. So no card copying or multiple transaction of any size can be performed. I read that US card companies will have the choice of chip and pin or signature. Pin would be far safer of course.

got my collection in! my take so far...
I had actually relegated myself to the fact that I was going to be he very last to see them. And it was all cool by me. very happy to see them come in!
They work great so far, even through my Droid Maxx case. haven't setup lock or prgrammed them yet. didn't really need to unlock my phone with them. It would be difficult too because the sweet spot seems to be rather low on the back of the phone. Fitting is a bit off, but I don't think it's the rings, possibly more to do with my hands or the accuracy of the place I had them measured. Just a bit too big or too small for different fingers. I have found a happy medium with a couple that would only take a slight bit of finagling to fit a bit tighter and safer not to fall off. maybe a little sugru or epoxy a small filler material. Nothing to compromise the function of the ring. One is a bit bigger. I got it to maybe fit my thumb, or as a gift because most people I know hands' are larger than mine. I have smaller badger-throttling hands. I think I saw @John-McLear wearing one on his thumb. Is it comfortable and usable that way for you? I may put it on the chain as a backup.
The larger one has another issue. i wasn't too worried about having the same size, or color inlays. But in switching my original stealth bomber from Black with black CF to black inlays, the whole surface seems to be homogeneous except with just the right turn in the light. And being you have to be accurate with the turn of the ring on my phone, it gets tough to activate. I might suggest a couple things for your orer form if possible. if someone were to pick the same color inlays for their ring, maybe a script could be written to warn the buyer of the difficulty telling them apart and offer the choice to change or keep that way. Many people might not even think of that when choosing inlay colors. And if a black ring is still a choice, the same warning for having black inlays because their surface textures are so alike.
Good news is that I have schematics and almost all the parts to put together a starting circuit for my truck. i do need to get a quality breadboard for prototyping though.
Thanks @NFC-Ring-Team @John-McLear for such a cool opportunity to stretch my maker/hacking skills and my imagination with these rings. i would like to decide on one of my projects for the innovation thread and spare QA rings.
Wasn't sure how to upload the pics I took.

RE: A quick and dirty vehicle entry/start sketch for Arduino
@Lokki I know what you mean on older cars. My '69 Torino GT was so much easier to work on in the engine compartment! A guy could get his hands in and work on just about anything without having to pull a bunch of crap out first!

RE: A quick and dirty vehicle entry/start sketch for Arduino
@Lokki I was also thinking of when my mechanic did front end work. But the wheel didn't really need to be locked to keep the tires in an outward or inward position. Thanks for making me realize that. I may head down to NAPA tomorrow and look at a ignition cylinder to see just where the locking pin is for it. Hopefully it also has an easily removable cylinder. i saw where some had a tab on top that if you drilled an access hole just above, you could press down and pull the cylinder out without access inside the column.
I had planned on using an android phone and apps like tasker to make a few tasks remote by cellular. Like starting from phone when my vehicle is valeted and I want it warmed up or cooled down, but the standard remote won't work. Give me remote OBD readings also. Maybe incorporate it into the dash instead of hiding it so I can customize my dash display. double duty as an HUD? I have a shield that will connect the phone to my arduino project. The 1Sheeld. If there was a cheap enough phone that had NFC, I could have just used that instead of having to buy the NFC boards. Mount Phone in dash for nav, music, speed, etc. Flip up to start vehicle. Once I go hands on, something will work out. thanks for being the invaluable resource you are @Lokki !

RE: A quick and dirty vehicle entry/start sketch for Arduino
@Lokki Yay! I'm helping too! :)
I seriously figured when I replace the factory double DIN head unit I would put in a single DIN stereo and use the space above for the tablet unit. A mechanical, automatic tray design would just be very cool. With some accent LEDs inside for effect.
I do make people think in new ways. In strange and unusual ways. -

@johnyma22 - I would love to work on some kind of content. What kind of launch and content are you thinking of?

@johnyma22 I would really like to do that. Let me know what points you would like covered in it. I have some ideas already.

Perhaps the "key" to a universal door lock.
Been working on door lock and wanted to fulfill the same requirements as other people, Be able to use ring, add to existing lock without modification, inexpensive. The lockitron was of interest except for lack of NFC and it's expense. What i was having trouble deciding on is a servo to tun lock and how to determine the lock's position at eacj use. Then I found what might be perfect to fit our use and any custom alterations someone would want to add. @johnyma22 @Lokki Take a look at this: Lockitron Mechanical Assembly

As a side note. Had a breakthrough on my car starting project. Turns ought my vehicle it's one of the first that uses the Golan system on the obd port. So I can have 2 way communication to the cars computer. I was looking and even the aftermarket remote start and transponder bypass go through the obd. No relays. I should be able to use a bot shield to send the commands from the arduino too star and many other functions.

DIY door lock.
I've had 2 projects in the burners and working them mentally the whole time, Now i could use a hand in finishing them.
First one is as DIY door lock. At it's inception it was going to be all individual components. But then I bought this from Sparkfun:
It's the Lockitron box without the microcontroller. The assembly includes the mechanisms to physically turn a lock, the motor, the housing, and the means to secure it all to a deadbolt.
My problem getting started is the construction and placement of an nfc sensor on the outside of the door. There is a metal plate around the door that may be used to hide an antenna wire. It may b easiest to do it wirelessly. Not sure of best way to do that, I have some Z wave boards, or could do a direct bluetooth connection. J ust found some rf boards that might work.
One the big question for you giys is whatmaterial to us to place the antenna in to get a good read. It will be in a cold enviroment, It's obviously just the face that i ask about. where the antenna will read codes. any ideas guys?
