Can't share sweet spot or register ring

Alright, so I just got my ring and in trying to register it and its asking me to touch the ring to my phones sweet spot, I keep moving the ring around the back of my phone to no avail. I then went into the settings page and clicked on "re-insert my stored sweetspot location, I click on the lower center of the screen and it says that I found my phones sweet spot and that theres a problem with my internet connection. I've tried this on 4G and on WiFi and made sure internet was connected, but still nothing.
My phone is the Moto X Style and I'm sure the NFC works because I already wrote my vcard to the ring and it works.
Any idea?
