i have the same issue with my Xperia Z5. I searched in Google and found this suggestion is helpful to remove lock screen password for Android based phones.
It began to write on the tag, than it stops and the programm collaps, after the writing it stops the program each time I hold the ring to my phone. Otherwise I don't habe problems with the ring unlocking my phone e.g. with the app NFC Tools i cleared the ring without any problems.
I also think its a problem with the apps so I thought it would be a nice feature in the keyringapp.
@flux_capacitor - We have this scheduled for further investigation and development, so will be able to update on the possibilities with the NFC Ring as soon as that happens! We have iOS11 dev version to test with, so will report back on this asap.

But are there some other ways to use the ring for unlocking the phone? Where can I find tutorials and software to use it with my rooted Android Oreo device with LineageOS and NO Gapps?
Any hints whrere to start? The unlocking feature was the reason for me to buy and ware the ring anyway…
